A new channel is available, how do I add this to the guide in Windows 7, 8, 8.1 or 10 Media Center?

Adding IceTV Guide Data to New Channels

To add a new channel to the guide please follow the following steps:

  1. Open Media Center.
  2. Go into Tasks, and then Settings.
  3. Select TV and then Guide.
  4. Select Edit Channels.
  5. Select Restore Default on the left side.
  6. Un-tick the channels that you don't wish to see in the guide.
  7. Select Save.
  8. Check the Guide to see if any channels are not showing a guide (ignoring the datacasting and shopping channels).
  9. To edit a channel that has no guide listings showing right click on the channel name, then
  10. Select Edit Listings.
  11. Select the correct channel from the list that has "-IceTV" at the end of the name.
  12. Select Save.
  13. Repeat steps 8 to 12 for any other channels with a blank guide.

Troubleshooting Steps

If you have already attempted to re-scan the channels then the above steps might not be enough and you may need to clear out the cached guide and channel scan information, to do this:

  1. Close Media Center.
  2. Close IceTV Interactive (this can be done by right clicking on the icon in the system tray and selecting "Exit").
  3. Open "Computer" from the start menu.
  4. Select your hard drive from the list of drives available.
  5. Open the "Program Data" folder. If you do not see this folder you will need to turn on the showing of hidden files, follow these steps to do this:
    1. Click on the "Organise" button in the bar at the top of the window.
    2. Select "Folder and Search Options" from the menu.
    3. Click on the "View" tab.
    4. Place a dot in the box marked "Show hidden files and folders".
    5. Click "OK".
    6. You should now be able to see the "Program Data" folder.
  6. Open the "IceTV" folder.
  7. Open the "Interactive" folder.
  8. Open the "3.0" folder.
  9. Delete all the files in the "3.0" folder, but leave the Cache folder.
  10. Open the start menu and search for "Task Scheduler" and run it.
  11. On the left hand side expand "Task Scheduler Library".
  12. Then expand "Microsoft" and then "Windows".
  13. Select "Media Center".
  14. From the middle window select "MediaCenterRecoveryTask".
  15. Right click on it and select "Run" from the pop-up menu.
  16. Close "Task Scheduler".
  17. On the IceTV website go to the My Account section and then click on the Interactive tab on the left hand side.
  18. Select "Resend all recordings".
  19. You should then run through the initial setup of Media Center again as per the setup instructions at Configuring your Media Center for IceTV.
