How do I Hide Unwanted Channels in the Guide?

Each commercial TV network currently has 1 or 2 datacasting channels that they are using to broadcast non-stop infomercials. As IceTV does not provide a guide for datacasting channels they will appear blank in the TV guide on the TV. You may also have no guide data showing for any duplicate channels and the radio channels. Scrolling past blank rows in the guide can be annoying. Fortunately there is a way to hide those channels.

On the SKIPPA there are 2 different methods that you can use to avoid seeing blank channels in the guide:

A. You can setup a favourite group and leave out the unwanted channels and the infomercial channels. This way the channels are still on the SKIPPA so you can view them any time you want to, by either pressing their channel number on the remote control or exiting the favourite group back to the 'All Channels' list.

B. You can disable the unwanted channels and the infomercial channels to remove them completely. You will need to disable 'Dynamic Channel Management' to prevent the deleted channels coming back automatically.

How To Disable Unwanted Channels:

The Skippa makes it easy to see which channels to hide because they are listed with a 'NO EPG' logo in the Channels menu.

The following will also skip those channels when channel surfing using the CH+ and CH- buttons.

To Disable Unwanted Channels:

  1. Press the MENU button on the remote control.
  2. Scroll down to Settings and press OK.
  3. Scroll down to Channels and press OK.
  4. Make sure you can see 'ALL CHANNELS' above the channel list. If it says FAVOURITES above the channel list press the Blue button (next to the Yellow button) to switch to Show All Channels.
  5. Scroll down the list of channels until you find one with the 'NO EPG' logo on the far right.
  6. Press the # button on the remote control (it is below the 9 button). You will see a logo appear with a red circle with a diagonal line (like a No Entry sign).
  7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 until all of the channels with the 'NO EPG' logo also have the No Entry logo (red circle with a diagonal line).
  8. Once you have finished just exit the menu.

How To Setup a Favourite Channels Group:

Setting up a favourite channels group is easy on the SKIPPA but the favourites channels are only really useful for avoiding seeing unwanted channels in the TV guide. gain, the Skippa makes it easy to see which channels to hide because they are listed with a 'NO EPG' logo in the Channels menu.

Channel surfing using the CH+ and CH- buttons will still surf through the full channel list. You can also press the channel number of any channel that is not in your favourite channels group to switch to that channel (as long as it has not been disabled).

To Setup A Favourite Channels Group:

  5. Scroll down the list of channels until you find one that you want to add to your favourite channels group.
  6. Press the FAV button on the remote control (it is below the Power button). On the far right you will see a logo appear with a yellow star.
  7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 until all of the channels that you want to include in your favourite channels group have the yellow star logo.
  8. Once you have finished just exit the menu.

Note: You cannot set the order of your favourite channels. If you want to group the channels by their TV network you can leave out the channels with single digit channel numbers (as long as they have a duplicate channel with double digit channel numbers). e.g. You can leave out 2, 3, 7 and 9 so the channels are grouped by order of the following networks: Ten, ABC, SBS, Community channel, Seven and Nine. For regional areas that would be something like: ABC, SBS, SC Ten, Seven / Prime and Nine / WIN

To Use your Favourite Channels Group:

  1. Press the TV GUIDE button to open the TV Guide.
  2. Press the FAV button.
  3. You will now only see your favourite channels listed in the TV Guide.

To switch back to seeing All Channels (that you have not disabled):

  1. Press the TV GUIDE button to open the TV Guide.
  2. Press the FAV button.
  3. You will now only see all of the channels listed in the TV Guide (except any channels that you disabled).
