The guide will take you through installing the IceBox BYOB firmware on your computer.
First you will need to ensure you have downloaded the IceBox BYOB firmware and setup your USB drive with the installer. The steps for this can be found at IceBox BYOB Installation Links
Insert the USB drive with the IceBox firmware on it into the computer you will be turning into an IceBox and power it on. Not all computers are configured to boot from a USB drive, so if the installer doesn't come up you will need to press the key needed to get into the BIOS (on most computers this is the DEL key, but if you are not sure which button you may need to check your computers user manual). You will see a screen similar to this:
Look for a section that talks about "Boot Overides" and find your USB drive listed amongst them:
and select it. The computer will then boot into the IceBox installer.
After 5 seconds it will automatically continue:
On the first page it will already have "Install IceBox" pre-selected. Press the right arrow key on the keyboard to then have the "<Ok>" button highlighted in red, then press the Enter key.
The hard drive in your computer will be auto selected, press the right arrow key on the keyboard to highlight the "<Ok>" button in red, then press the Enter key.
It will come up with a confirmation window that all contents on the drive will be wiped. Press the left arrow button to move the highlight across to "<Ok>" and press the Enter key.
It will come up with a second confirmation window that all contents on the drive will be wiped. Press the left arrow button to move the highlight across to "<Ok>" and press the Enter key.
The IceBox firmware will now format the hard drive and install.
Once complete it will confirm it's done. Press the Enter key to confirm. You may now remove the USB stick from the computer.
On the Main Menu screen use the Down arrow to scroll down to "4 Reboot" then press the Right arrow key to ensure that "<Ok>" is highlighted as well, then press the Enter key.
The computer will now reboot and load straight into the IceBox software. You can run through the setup of the IceBox by following the steps at IceBox Installation and Setup Guide
